Power BI Capacity
Understanding Fabric, Embedded and Premium capacities.
To embed Power BI reports without individual Power BI Pro licenses for your end-users, you need a capacity. There are several options available:
Microsoft Fabric Capacity
Microsoft Fabric is the latest offering from Microsoft. It includes Power BI and other data and analytics services. With a Fabric capacity, you can embed Power BI reports and use other Fabric features.
Power BI Embedded
Power BI Embedded is a dedicated capacity for embedding Power BI content in custom applications. It is available in different SKUs (A1, A2, A4, etc.) and is billed hourly. This is a good option if you want to scale independently and have more control over costs.
Power BI Premium
Power BI Premium is a per-capacity licensing model that allows you to publish content to users who don't have Power BI Pro licenses. Premium capacities start at P1 and are billed monthly.
